Flying “J” Ranch in Alto, NM, Closes After 40 Years; Property Sold to Many Moons RV Ranch and Events
Alto, New Mexico — April 27, 2026 — After more than four decades as a beloved western chuckwagon and family attraction, the historic Flying “J” Ranch in Alto, New Mexico, is closing and transitioning to new ownership. The property has been sold to Many Moons RV Ranch and Events, which will officially take over the property on April 27, 2026.
The new owners also own the adjoining 20 acres and will begin transforming the combined property into a full-service RV Resort Ranch, bringing expanded lodging and outdoor recreation options to the Alto and Ruidoso area. The resort will be designed to welcome RV travelers, groups, and families seeking a mountain getaway in Lincoln County.
While the traditional Flying “J” Ranch chuckwagon operation will cease, select portions of the ranch will remain available as unique event spaces under Many Moons RV Ranch and Events. The property will host weddings, corporate retreats, birthday parties, anniversaries, and Quinceañera celebrations, offering guests a blend of rustic charm and modern amenities.
“We are deeply grateful to the Hobbs family for the vision, hard work, and heart they poured into the Flying ‘J’ Ranch as entertainers over the past 40 years,” said Chuck and Salvy French, owners of Many Moons RV Ranch and Events. “Our commitment is to honor that legacy—keeping the spirit of the Old West, family, and community alive on this land—even as we create new opportunities for guests to stay, celebrate, and make memories here for decades to come.”
Additional details about the RV resort timeline, site amenities, and event booking options will be announced in the coming months on the company’s website and social media channels.
